al-Zaranjarī · Manāqib Abī Ḥanīfa
Al-Ḥanbalī edition · 2021
Edited and studied by Muḥammad Wāʾil al-Ḥanbalī. Dār al-Sammān, first edition, 1442 AH / 2021. The title and copyright pages identify al-Zaranjarī as the author and Burhān al-Dīn ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad al-Balkhī as the transmitter. The supplied file contains 255 PDF pages; its copyright page states 250 printed pages.
Manuscripts used
On printed p. 77, the editor says he used two witnesses and found no third:
- The Elmalı public-library witness, transferred to the central library in Konya, is described under number 5240, with 23 folios. It is assigned siglum A and has marginal notes incorporated where appropriate.
- Kasîdecizâde 677, Süleymaniye Library, Istanbul: 23 folios, described as 344a–366a, assigned siglum B. The editor notes some omissions.
The 2018 study gives Elmalı 2540 / Konya 6862 and a slightly different Kasîdecizâde folio range. These are recorded as each publication reports them; the conflicting numbers have not been independently resolved against a current library catalogue.
Editorial method
Printed pp. 75–76 explain that the editor avoids crowding the text with every manuscript difference, consults biographical and manāqib literature to establish readings, gives brief hadith references and flags weakness, identifies many names, links accounts in his notes, and supplies bracketed additions from his own clarification or other sources. This is not a complete transcription of a single witness.
The scan has no extractable text layer. The atlas currently reads the 2018 Arabic text; this edition is available for scan comparison, with checked differences documented report by report.
