حدثنا محمد بن علي بن الحسن الترمذي، قال: حدثنا سفيان بن وكيع، قال: حدثنا ابن إدريس، عن أبي حنيفة، عن حماد، عن إبراهيم رحمة الله عليهم، قال: إذا وقعت الفرقة من قبل الرجل فهو طلاق، وإذا كانت من قبل المرأة فليس بطلاق.

Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan al-Tirmidhī related to us: Sufyān ibn Wakīʿ related to us: Ibn Idrīs related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, from Ḥammād, from Ibrāhīm—may God have mercy on them—who said: If separation comes from the man’s side, it is divorce. If it comes from the woman’s side, it is not divorce.
