Muhammad ibn Saʿid al-Sawi related to us; he said: Ishaq ibn Ibrahim related to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Razzaq related to us; he said: Abu Hanifa related to us, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn al-Muntashir, from his father; he said: I asked Ibn ʿUmar, may God be pleased with them both: May a person in pilgrimage consecration wear perfume? He said: I would rather wake up [dripping] tar than wake up dripping perfume while in consecration. I went to ʿAʾisha, may God be pleased with her, and mentioned Ibn ʿUmar's statement to her. She said: It is as though I am looking at the gleam of perfume on the head of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, while he was in pilgrimage consecration.
