حدثنا محمد بن القاسم، قال: حدثنا السمري بن يحيى، قال: حدثنا شعيب بن إبراهيم، قال: قال عبد العزيز بن أبي رواد:بيننا وبين الناس أبو حنيفة رحمة الله عليه، فمن أحبه وتولاه علمنا أنه من أهل السنة، ومن أبغضه علمنا أنه من أهل البدعة.

Muḥammad ibn al-Qāsim related to us. He said: al-Samarī ibn Yaḥyā related to us. He said: Shuʿayb ibn Ibrāhīm related to us. He said: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawwād said: Abū Ḥanīfa, may God have mercy on him, is what distinguishes us from other people. If someone loves him and is loyal to him, we know that he belongs to the people of the Sunna. If someone hates him, we know that he belongs to the people of innovation.
