أبو المنذر (report 2159; identity unresolved)

Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Ziyad related to us; he said: ʿAmr ibn Humayd related to us; he said: Baqiyya related to us; he said: I heard Abu Yusuf and Abu al-Mundhir relate from Abu Hanifa, from Yahya ibn ʿUbayd Allah, from his father, from Abu Hurayra, may God be pleased with him: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, led them in prayer and heard a child's voice among the women. He lightened the prayer while completing it fully. When he finished, he was asked: Messenger of God! Has the prayer been shortened? He said: Why is that? They said: You made it light. He said: I heard a child's voice among the women, so I made it light so that she could go to her child. Whoever leads a people should make the prayer light for them, for among them are the elderly, the sick and those with a need.
