حدثنا علي بن محمد بن عبد الرحمن السرخسي، قال: حدثنا نصر بن عبد الرحمن الوشا، قال: حدثنا مفضل بن صالح، قال: رؤي لأبي حنيفة رحمة الله عليه رؤيا كأنه ينبش قبر النبي ﷺ، فقيل لأبي حنيفة رحمة الله عليه ذلك فأعظمه وأحزنه، ثم سأل ابن سيرين عن ذلك، فقال محمد بن سيرين: ما سألني أحد مثل هذا، إن كان كذلك فإن صاحب هذه الرؤيا يحيي علماً قد مات وذهب أهلُه.

ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sarakhsī related to us: Naṣr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Washshā related to us: Mufaḍḍal ibn Ṣāliḥ related to us: A dream was seen concerning Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—as though he were opening the Prophet’s grave—God bless him and grant him peace. When Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—was told, he regarded it as grave and was saddened. He then asked Ibn Sīrīn about it. Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn said, ‘No one has asked me anything like this. If it is so, the person of this dream revives knowledge that has died and whose possessors have passed away.’
