حدثنا أحمد بن محمد، قال: حدثنا يحيى بن إسماعيل الجريري، قال: حدثنا جعفر بن علي، قال: حدثنا سيف، عن النعمان بن ثابت، عن حماد، عن إبراهيم رحمة الله عليهم، عن عائشة رضي الله عنها، قالت: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم: «لو أنَّ الرِّفق خلق يرى لما رؤي خلق من خلق الله أحسن منه، ولو أن الخرق خلق يرى لما رؤي من خلق الله عز وجل خلق أقبح منه».

Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad related to us: Yaḥyā ibn Ismāʿīl al-Jarīrī related to us: Jaʿfar ibn ʿAlī related to us: Sayf related to us, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Thābit, from Ḥammād, from Ibrāhīm—may God have mercy on them—from ʿĀʾisha—may God be pleased with her—who said: The Messenger of God—God bless him and his family and grant him peace—said, ‘If gentleness were a visible creature, no creature of God would be seen more beautiful than it. If harshness were a visible creature, no creature of God, Mighty and Majestic, would be seen uglier than it.’
