حدثنا الربيع بن حسان الكسِّي، قال: حدثنا حرب بن يزيد الطحان، قال: حدثني أبي، قال:كان أبو حنيفة رحمة الله عليه إذا أفتى في مسألة يُسأل عنها سكت طويلاً، ثم يتنفس الصعداء ويقول: اللهم لا تؤاخذنا.

Al-Rabīʿ ibn Ḥassān al-Kissī related to us: Ḥarb ibn Yazīd al-Ṭaḥḥān related to us: My father related to me: When Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—gave a legal opinion on a question put to him, he would remain silent for a long time, then sigh deeply and say, ‘O God, do not hold us to account.’
قال: حدثنا الربيع بن حسان الكسِّي، قال: حدثنا حرب بن يزيد، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن الأجلح، قال:كان أبو حنيفة رحمة الله عليه غواصاً [يغوص] فيخرج أحسن الدُّر والياقوت.

Al-Rabīʿ ibn Ḥassān related to us. He said: Ḥarb ibn Yazīd al-Ṭaḥḥān related to us. He said: Zayd ibn al-Ḥubāb related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, may God have mercy on him, who said: I said to ʿAṭāʾ: ‘This statement of yours that someone who washes a dead person must bathe: does it have a basis?’ He said: ‘No. Ibn ʿAbbās, may God be pleased with them both, was asked about it and did not consider bathing necessary on that account. He said: Do you regard your dead as impure?!’
حدثنا الربيع بن حسان، قال: حدثنا حرب بن يزيد قال: حدثنا محاضر بن المورع، قال: حدثنا أبو حنيفة، عن الشعبي،أن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه صلى على زينب زوج النبي ﷺ فكبر عليها أربعاً.
