“The shorter Sūrat al-Nisāʾ” refers here to Sūrat al-Ṭalāq, as the quoted verse indicates.

Whenever the Messenger of God, peace be upon him, entered his house, he would send his mother, Umm ʿAbd, to enter the Prophet’s house and observe his conduct, manner and bearing. She would tell ʿAbd Allāh about these, so that he could imitate him.
The source’s unusual والدة أم عبد is rendered as his mother, Umm ʿAbd, without silently expanding her identity.

I praise Him, seek His help, believe in Him and rely upon Him. We seek refuge in God from the evil within ourselves and from our bad deeds. Whomever God guides, none can lead astray; whomever He leads astray, none can guide. I testify that there is no god but God alone, without partner, and that Muḥammad is His servant and messenger. ‘You who believe! Be mindful of God, in whose name you ask one another, and of ties of kinship. God is ever watchful over you’ [al-Nisāʾ: 1]. ‘You who believe! Be mindful of God as He deserves, and do not die except as Muslims’ [Āl ʿImrān: 102]. ‘You who believe! Be mindful of God and speak upright words. He will set your deeds right for you and forgive your sins. Whoever obeys God and His Messenger has attained a tremendous triumph’ [al-Aḥzāb: 70].”
The first Qurʾānic quotation and verse references follow the supplied Arabic, without silently harmonizing them to the standard verse text.
