حدثنا السري بن عصام، قال: حدثنا حامد بن آدم، قال: سمعت فضالة النسائي يقول:لم يتكلم في أبي حنيفة إلا حاسد حسده لمعرفته وبصره وفقهه، أو جاهل لم يفهم كلامه رحمة الله عليه.

Al-Sarī ibn ʿIṣām related to us. He said: Ḥāmid ibn Ādam related to us. He said: I heard Faḍāla al-Nasāʾī say: No one spoke against Abū Ḥanīfa except an envious man who envied his understanding, insight and jurisprudence, or an ignorant man who did not understand his discourse, may God have mercy on him.
حدثنا شاذي بن علي السرخسي، قال: سمعت وهب بن زمعة، يقول: سمعت فضالة النسائي يقول:قلت لأبي نصير: لا نجد عن مقاتل بن سليمان، قال لي: وكيف ترى عبد الله يحدث عن أبي حنيفة، فذكرت ذلك لعبد الله فقال: مقاتل مثل أبي حنيفة، لولا أبو حنيفة ما دريت هذا الحديث، وذكر حديثًا لا أحفظه.

Shādhī ibn ʿAlī al-Sarakhsī related to us. He said: I heard Wahb ibn Zamʿa say: I heard Faḍāla al-Nasāʾī say: I said to Abū Nuṣayr: “We do not find transmission from Muqātil ibn Sulaymān.” He said to me: “Then what do you think of ʿAbd Allāh transmitting from Abū Ḥanīfa?” I mentioned that to ʿAbd Allāh, who said: “Muqātil is like Abū Ḥanīfa. Were it not for Abū Ḥanīfa, I would not have understood this report.” He mentioned a report that I do not remember.
