سفيان (report 171; identity unresolved)

ʿAmr ibn ʿĀṣim related to us. He said: al-Naḍr ibn Muḥammad al-Sayyārī related to us. He said: I heard Sufyān ibn Wakīʿ say: I heard my father say: I passed through the mosque of Kufa. Abū Yūsuf called me over and asked me about a question concerning pledges. We stayed with him until we had mastered it. I said: ‘I shall go to Sufyān and ask him about it.’ I went and asked him, and he went through it like an arrow. Later I learned that he examined Abū Ḥanīfa’s books, may God have mercy on him.
