Al-Ḥasan related to me: Muḥammad ibn Manṣūr related to us: Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm related to me: Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā al-Qaṣrī related to us: Muḥammad ibn al-Fuḍayl related to us: Abū Ḥanīfa related to us, from Ḥammād, from Ibrāhīm—may God have mercy on them—who said: If both spouses are polytheists and embrace Islam together, their marriage remains in force. If one embraces Islam before the other, Islam is presented to the other. If the other embraces Islam, their marriage remains in force; if the other refuses, they are separated. If the separation comes from the man’s side, it is one divorce; [if] it comes from the woman’s side, it is separation without divorce.
