Yūsuf ibn Maymūn Abū Khuzayma

Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq ibn Yazīd informed us: This is the book of my grandfather Isḥāq ibn Yazīd. I read in it: Yūsuf ibn Maymūn Abū Khuzayma related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—from one of his companions, from Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥanafiyya: The ʿaqīqa existed in the pre-Islamic period; when the Sacrifice came, it was discontinued.

ʿAqīqa denotes the sacrifice associated with a newborn; ‘the Sacrifice’ renders al-aḍḥā. The unnamed transmitter remains unnamed.

Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyā ibn al-Ḥārith al-Naysābūrī related to us: ʿAlī ibn Salama al-Laythī related to us: ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Ḥimmānī related to us: Yūsuf ibn Maymūn related to us: A man dreamed that Abū Ḥanīfa was opening the Prophet’s grave—God bless him and grant him peace—then took his bones and began gathering and arranging them. He asked Ibn Sīrīn, who said, ‘This is a man who revives the Prophet’s Sunna—God bless him and grant him peace.’

Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan al-Tirmidhī related to us: Aḥmad ibn Bakr al-Balkhī related to us: Abū Yaḥyā al-Ḥimmānī related to us, from Yūsuf ibn Maymūn, who said: Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—dreamed, or he said: I dreamed of Abū Ḥanīfa opening the Prophet’s grave—God bless him and grant him peace. Ibn Sīrīn was asked, and he said, ‘This is a man who revives the Prophet’s knowledge—God bless him and grant him peace.’

Al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAzīz al-Qaṭṭān al-Marwazī related to us: Abū ʿIṣma Saʿd ibn Muʿādh related to us: I read to Yaḥyā ibn Aktham: ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Ḥimmānī related to us: Yūsuf ibn Maymūn Abū Khuzayma related to us: I had a dream concerning Abū Ḥanīfa, as though he were opening the Prophet’s grave—God bless him and grant him peace. I asked Ibn Sīrīn—or he said: he was asked about it—and he said, ‘This is a man who revives knowledge that has died.’
