ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sarakhsī related to us: Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl ibn Samura related to us: I heard al-Walīd ibn al-Qāsim al-Hamadhānī say: Al-Nuʿmān ibn Thābit al-Khazzāz took good care of his companions’ affairs, discreetly asking about their circumstances. Whoever he learned was in need, he assisted. If one of them or a relative fell ill, he visited; if one of them or a relative died, he accompanied the funeral. If a misfortune befell one of them or one of his friends, he worked to meet their needs. He was generous by nature and pleasant in companionship. May God have abundant mercy on him.

Ṣāliḥ ibn Abī Rumayḥ wrote to me: al-Faḍl ibn al-ʿAbbās al-Rāzī related to us: Isḥāq ibn Bahlūl related to us: al-Walīd ibn al-Qāsim related to us, from al-Nuʿmān, from Manṣūr, from Ibrāhīm, from Masrūq, from ʿĀʾisha—may God be pleased with her—who said: When a sick person was brought to the Messenger of God—God bless him and his family and grant him peace—he would pray for him, saying, ‘Remove the affliction, Lord of humankind. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing: a healing that leaves no sickness.’
