حدثنا زكريا بن يحيى بن الحارث النيسابوري، قال: حدثنا علي بن سلمة الليثي، قال: حدثنا عبد الحميد الحماني، قال: حدثنا يوسف بن ميمون، قال:رأى رجل في المنام كأن أبا حنيفة ينبش قبر النبي ﷺ، ثم أخذ عظامه، فجعل يجمعها ويؤلفها، فسأل ابن سيرين، فقال: هذا رجل يُحيي سنةَ النبي ﷺ.

Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyā ibn al-Ḥārith al-Naysābūrī related to us: ʿAlī ibn Salama al-Laythī related to us: ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Ḥimmānī related to us: Yūsuf ibn Maymūn related to us: A man dreamed that Abū Ḥanīfa was opening the Prophet’s grave—God bless him and grant him peace—then took his bones and began gathering and arranging them. He asked Ibn Sīrīn, who said, ‘This is a man who revives the Prophet’s Sunna—God bless him and grant him peace.’
حدثنا العباس بن عزيز القطان المروزي، قال: حدثنا أبو عصمة سعد بن معاذ، قال: قرأت على يحيى بن أكثم، حدثنا عبد الحميد الحماني، قال: حدثنا يوسف بن ميمون أبو خزيمة، قال:رأيت لأبي حنيفة رؤيا كأنه ينبش قبر النبي ﷺ، فسألت ابن سيرين، أو قال: فسئل عنه، فقال: هذا رجل يُحيي علماً قد مات.

Al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAzīz al-Qaṭṭān al-Marwazī related to us: Abū ʿIṣma Saʿd ibn Muʿādh related to us: I read to Yaḥyā ibn Aktham: ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Ḥimmānī related to us: Yūsuf ibn Maymūn Abū Khuzayma related to us: I had a dream concerning Abū Ḥanīfa, as though he were opening the Prophet’s grave—God bless him and grant him peace. I asked Ibn Sīrīn—or he said: he was asked about it—and he said, ‘This is a man who revives knowledge that has died.’
حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن سهل أبو سهل، قال: حدثنا أبو يوسف الدشتكي الرازي، قال: حدثني عبد الحميد الحماني قال:كان والد يعقوب يجيء إلى مجلس أبي حنيفة رحمة الله عليه فيأخذ بيد يعقوب فيقيمه فيذهب به، فلا يلبث إلا يسيراً حتى يرجع يعقوب، فيخوض معنا، ثم يجيء والده فيقيمه فيذهب به، فلا يلبث إلا يسيراً حتى يرجع يعقوب، فجاء يوماً والده فجعل يصيح ويصيح ويقول: يعصيني هذا الولد وأنتم تعينونه، فقال له أبو حنيفة: وما تريد منه؟ قال: أريد منه أن يلزم السوق ويعول عياله، فقال له أبو حنيفة رضي الله عنه: تُكْفى هذا إن شاء الله، فقال: أبوه: لا أرضى، فقال أبو حنيفة رحمة الله عليه: هذا شيء آخر أنت تمنع الساعة ولدك عن التعلم فلا تعان على هذا، نحن نكفيه ما يحتاج إليه، ارجع راشداً.

Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sahl Abū Sahl related to us: Abū Yūsuf al-Dashtakī al-Rāzī related to us: ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Ḥimmānī related to me: Yaʿqūb’s father would come to Abū Ḥanīfa’s gathering—may God have mercy on him—take Yaʿqūb by the hand, make him get up, and take him away. After only a short time Yaʿqūb would return and join our discussion. His father would come again, make him get up, and take him away; after only a short time Yaʿqūb would return. One day his father came shouting repeatedly, ‘This son disobeys me, and you help him!’ Abū Ḥanīfa said, ‘What do you want from him?’ He said, ‘I want him to stay in the marketplace and support his family.’ Abū Ḥanīfa—may God be pleased with him—said, ‘You will be spared that burden, God willing.’ His father said, ‘I am not satisfied.’ Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—said, ‘That is another matter. You are now preventing your son from learning, and you will not be helped in that. We will provide what he needs. Return rightly guided.’
