حدثنا عبد الله بن عبيد الله، قال: حدثنا معروف بن الحسن بن علي - من أهل أستاباذ، ذكره عن أبي عبد الرحمن المقرئ قال: قال عبد العزيز بن أبي رواد: أبو حنيفة محنة لا يحبه إلا سني، ولا يبغضه إلا مبتدع.

ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd Allāh related to us. He said: Maʿrūf ibn al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī, of Astābādh, related to us. He mentioned it from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muqriʾ, who said: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawwād said: Abū Ḥanīfa is a test: only a follower of the Sunna loves him, and only an innovator hates him.
