Marwān ibn Muʿāwiya al-Fazārī

Jīhān ibn Abī al-Ḥasan al-Farghānī related to us. He said: Shujāʿ ibn Makhlad al-Baghdādī related to us. He said: Marwān ibn Muʿāwiya al-Fazārī related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, may God be pleased with him, from Qatāda, from Abū Qilāba, from Abū Thaʿlaba: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prohibited eating any fanged beast of prey and any bird with talons.

Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Saʿīd al-Hamadhānī related to us. He said: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sālim related to us. He said: My father related to us. He said: Marwān ibn Muʿāwiya related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, may God be pleased with him, who said: We mentioned selling a cat in the presence of ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ, and he did not find fault with it.

The spelling الهمذاني is retained as al-Hamadhānī, without changing it to a different nisba.

Zayd ibn Yaḥyā, Abū Usāma, the jurist of Balkh, related to us. He said: Yaḥyā ibn Mūsā related to us. He said: Marwān ibn Muʿāwiya related to us. He said: Abū Ḥanīfa, may God be pleased with him, related to us. He said: I heard Abū Jaʿfar say: There is no one in Iraq like al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī, and no one in the Hijaz more knowledgeable about the pilgrimage rites than ʿAṭāʾ. Abū Ḥanīfa, may God be pleased with him, said: I saw both al-Ḥasan and ʿAṭāʾ, but I sat with ʿAṭāʾ more than with al-Ḥasan. ʿAṭāʾ was as Abū Jaʿfar said, concerning the pilgrimage rites and other matters.

Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Saʿdī related to us. He said: al-Ḥasan ibn Ṣāliḥ related to us. He said: Marwān ibn Muʿāwiya related to us, from Ḥanẓala ibn Abī Sufyān, who said: I told al-Nuʿmān to ask Ḥammād for me about the qunūt. He asked him, and he said: “Every qunūt is an innovation, except the qunūt of the witr prayer.”
